Court reliability: it watches itself

Cameras, connection and the court server are watched around the clock: the owner learns about a problem at once, and the court fixes much by itself — restarts services, corrects camera calibration, goes online via a SIM card — while a neighbouring court can restart a frozen one.

What it is and why

A smart court is cameras, a server, a terminal, a scoreboard and a network. If something breaks silently, the club learns about it from players who got no video. So each court runs a watchdog: it checks itself and the cameras every minute, raises an alarm and fixes what it can.

Courts look after each other, cameras rest at night while the server finishes reviews and retrains models. The owner sees everything on the video wall and gets one morning camera report.

What it does

Court reliability

  • Court watchdog: cameras, disk, network, ball service — alert and “fixed”
  • A neighbouring court wakes up and restarts a frozen one
  • Owner's video wall: cameras, faults and connectivity, terminal mirror, smart plugs
  • Camera auto-calibration and a morning check with a report
  • Camera night mode 00:00–06:00
  • Protection of club and player data on the court server
What the court needs

An AI Padel smart court; restarting by a neighbouring court needs smart plugs.

How it works

How it works

  1. A check every minute

The court server checks cameras, disk, connection and the ball service.

  2. Alarm

A problem — an alarm to the owner in the admin panel and Telegram; when fixed — “resolved”.

  3. Backup connection

If the cable internet drops, the court server reaches the cloud through a SIM-card router.

  4. A neighbour restarts

If a neighbouring court server does not respond for a few minutes, the court power-cycles it via a smart plug — at most three times a day.

  5. Camera calibration

While the court is free, the server checks calibration against the white lines and corrects it if a camera turned.

  6. Morning and night

From 6 to 7 a.m. — a camera check and report; from 00:00 to 06:00 cameras are off while the server finishes work and retrains models.

  7. Court server protection

The court server disk is encrypted with the key held in the board's TPM; court software ships as compiled modules, so it cannot be copied and run on another computer.

In detail

Court reliability

Owner's video wall

A program for the owner's PC: every court camera, ball cameras included, and the broadcasts. The Faults and connectivity section checks every 30 seconds whether each court server answers and shows outages with their cause. The terminal mirror shows the court terminal screen and, with the Control switch, lets you tap it remotely; next to it is the terminal camera. Smart plugs of the courts and camera sound are there too.

Camera auto-calibration and a morning check

While the court is free, the court server checks camera calibration against the white court lines. If a camera has turned on its bracket, the calibration is corrected after two checks in a row and the previous copy is kept. Every morning between 6 and 7 the court checks its cameras and sends the owner one report.

Backup link over a SIM card

If the club's wired internet goes down, the court server reaches the cloud through a router with a SIM card. A neighbouring court without its own link reaches the cloud through this court.

A frozen court restarted by its neighbour

Courts watch each other: if the neighbouring court server has not answered for several minutes, the court power-cycles it through a smart plug — no more than three times a day — and tells the owner.

Camera night mode 00:00–06:00

At night the court cameras switch off while the server keeps working: it finishes match analyses, uploads highlights and trains models. If a match is on at midnight, night mode waits for it to end. The club can change the night window.

Night training of the ball and pose models

At night the court fine-tunes the ball detection and player pose models on recordings of its own games. A new model never replaces the working one without a check: a pose model that the cameras do not agree on is rejected.

Court software protection

The key modules of the court software run on the club server in protected form — without source code.

Limits, honestly

Limits, honestly

  • Restarting by a neighbouring court needs smart plugs.
  • The backup connection needs a SIM-card router.
  • If a camera moved a lot, automatic correction may not cope — manual calibration is needed.
  • The club can shift the camera night mode; if a match is on at midnight, the mode waits for it to end.

Who it helps

Who it helps

Owners

Know about a problem before players do and do not drive to the club for every glitch.

Clubs

Less smart-court downtime.

Players

Video and score arrive because the court watches itself.

Questions and answers

Questions and answers

Does the court work without internet?

Yes, score, recording and terminal work in the club network.

What if a court freezes?

A neighbouring court power-cycles it via a plug and notifies the owner.

Is data protected?

Yes, club and player data on the court server is protected; key program modules ship without source code.

Where do alarms go?

To the admin panel and Telegram.

What if a camera turned?

The server corrects the calibration after two checks in a row; the previous one is kept.

What happens at night?

Cameras are off; the server finishes reviews, uploads highlights and retrains models.

Does a new model replace the working one at once?

No, only after a check.

What is the video wall?

An app for the owner's computer: all cameras, failures and connection, the terminal mirror, plugs.
